One year ago, Bourne Westfield RotaKids held their inauguration ceremony where the club was officially chartered, a president, Lucy Lavery was announced and all members declared a pledge to RotaKids and received a certificate of achievement from the Bourne Rotary Club. This event was also attended by their sponsor, Sainsbury’s of Bourne.

A year on and the RotaKids and Rotarians came together to celebrate the RotaKids achievements so far. The Rotakids were awarded a Presidential Citation for successfully carrying out four activities during their first year. RotaKids have raised just under fifty pounds for their current project, Lifestraws, a project which funds water filtration devices for Africa. They have held stalls at school fairs as well showing their appreciation to the local community through a cookie drop where members of the Bourne community received a card and cookie to say thank you for their continued support.

The RotaKids were presented with a certificate showing their support for the Lifestraws cause as well as the prestigious presidential citation for successfully completing four activities during the Rotary year 2015/16. This award was presented to the RotaKids president, Lucy Lavery by District Governor Geoff Blurton. This was a fantastic acknowledgment of the continued hard work of the RotaKids. The RotaKids also announced their upcoming projects, a sponsored silence, promotion of the annual Bourne School’s Spelling Bee as well as election of a new president, as sadly, Lucy Lavery will be leaving Bourne Westfield to start at Bourne Academy in September.
