Spring has sprung!

Mums and dads mucked in with the digging and spreading of new bark, whilst children had fun weeding paths, planting bedding plants and vegetable seeds in the greenhouse.  All the classes are looking forward to our Science Week next week when the vegetable planting will start in earnest.

The children are eager to plant their pumpkins, parsnips, parsley, carrots, beetroot and lettuces in our vegetable beds.  Each year group will then be nurturing their vegetables ready to harvest our produce in the autumn term.

Organiser, Angela Pinchin cooked up a lunchtime treat of hot dogs, tea and squash whilst our ‘head gardener’, Maureen Cornell, deployed the willing troops to their tasks.

Elaine Radley, Headteacher, commented “We have beautiful grounds here at Westfield and we only keep them looking so nice with the support of all our willing helpers – a big thank you to all.”
