Year 5 welcomes parents to school

Pupils welcomed their guests into the three Year 5 classrooms with each classroom showcasing a different topic covered during the year so far. Mrs Goodwin’s class focused on life cycles with pupils sharing their art, English, science and geography work linked to the topic.

In Mr Clark’s class there was a risk you might catch the plague. Here pupils used drama to inform parents of everything from how the plague spread to suggesting some incredible cures. Did you know that putting a chicken’s bottom on a plague buboe was thought to be one of the best cures?!

Parents travelled back to the time of the Aztecs in Mrs Smith’s class, where pupils used a range of art work, drama and computer presentations to show all aspects of Aztec life. The highlight here was the chocolate tasting.

Year 5 teacher, Karen Smith commented, “The event was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils and parents alike. The pupils were so articulate and very eager to impart their knowledge, whilst parents left with heads buzzing with lots of weird and wonderful facts.”
