GB Triathlete Kayleigh visits Westfield!

Children were inspired by the comprehensive account of how she started on her path to achieve her eventual ambition of representing her country and medalling in an Olympic games one day. In the 2014 U20 World Triathlon Championships in Edmonton, Canada, Kayleigh came ninth and was the first British and European athlete to finish.

Kayleigh now has a very busy and important year ahead of her having qualified for the U20 European Championships in Geneva and the World Championships in Chicago later in the year. Having competed at these she then hopes to qualify for a place in the GB elite squad and compete in the elite competitions with an eye on the Olympics in either 2020 or 2024.

PE Co-ordinator Richard Scott commented “It was great that Kayleigh was able to take a day out of her busy schedule to visit Bourne Westfield.  It is an inspiring experience for the children to see real-life sporting heroes that can inspire them to achieve success for themselves!”
