A Special Visitor

As part of their English work on biography writing, Dean Headley, the renowned cricketer, who has 15 caps playing for England, revealed secrets about his childhood, his cricketing career and his current role at Stamford Endowed School.  The pupils asked very pertinent questions and gained an insight into Dean’s life. Mrs Goodwin, Phase Leader and Class Teacher, who organised the visit was delighted with the day, “Dean, very kindly agreed to coming in to school and to being quizzed by 92 children. He answered a range of questions, had discussions with the children and charmed everyone.  He even told a couple of jokes! The pupils were then inspired to write his biography with a knowledge only gained by meeting Dean.”

Dean, who is currently coaching and teaching pupils in a range of sports, made a lasting impression and the children were quite ‘star struck’ at meeting him. Alex Downing declared at the end of the school day “This has been a very good day Mrs Goodwin, I really enjoyed writing about Mr Headley.”
