Bourne goes bananas for Fair Trade Fortnight

While some of the children learn about Fairtrade as part of their curriculum, the assembly acted as a pertinent reminder to all, about the need to tackle global poverty through trade.

As well as delivering an informative assembly, the visitors also brought a rather large delivery of bananas and water for the children, Fairtrade of course!

Headteacher, Elaine Radley thanked the visitors commenting, “The children were enthused by the whole concept of how swapping items in your usual shopping basket for those displaying the Fairtrade

logo, they could make a concrete difference to poor communities all over the world.”

Jane Clare added “At Co-op we fully support the ethics around Fair Trade. It is great to get into schools and deliver the important message about Fair Trade to the children to aid their understanding of it.”
