Music, Music, Music!

On Wednesday 24th June over 50 of Bourne Westfield’s musicians performed at their annual music concert held at Bourne Academy.  The evening was an amazing success with over 200 friends and relatives supporting the children in their performances.

There was a varied programme including the school Rock Band, Jazz Band, String Quintet and choir along with many solo and small group ensemble performances.  We were delighted to welcome back some talented ex-Westfield musicians to close the show.  The children had recorded all of their music onto an annually produced CD ‘Sounds of Westfield 2015’ that was sold at the event to raise funds for the music department.

On Sunday 28th June both the Choir and the Rock Band performed at the Bourne Carnival.  The groups performed on stage to a large audience, entertaining the crowds with their upbeat and lively performances.

Finally on Tuesday 30th June both the Rock Band and Vocal Ensemble performed at the Skegness Embassy as part of the School Proms.  This event invites through audition, the very best of Lincolnshire Primary and Secondary music to perform together in an event open to the public.  It is the second year that Westfield musicians have been selected to play.

Rebecca Beavis Music Co-ordinator at the school commented, ‘The children have been incredibly busy working towards all of these events.  It is always a huge pleasure to be asked to perform in public and we were really pleased to be able to support the Bourne Carnival this year.  Performing at the school proms was a huge accolade to the musical talent we have at Westfield and our school concert was a lovely evening and yet another opportunity to celebrate with friends and family.
