WoW Pledge

After these two schemes had been brought into practice, the Eco Committee decided that we needed to measure how effective our efforts to persuade pupils, parents and staff to walk, bike or scoot to school. We decided to enter the Lincolnshire Big Bike Race and elected pupils in 1D as Big Bike Race Champions to count the number of bikes in the bike racks as well as asking classes to complete a survey explaining how they travelled to school each day. The results were then reported back to the Eco-Coordinator who inputted the data onto the Big Bike Race website. Pupils of Bourne Westfield were thrilled to find out their efforts had been rewarded and they had achieved second place in the competition.  Eco-Coordinator Emma Desbruslais commented, "It is fantastic to see the effort of pupils on the Eco Committee and the whole school have been acknowledged with this award. The children have all commented that they enjoy biking and scooting to school and are going to continue with the WoW and Park and Stride scheme now the contest is over. A massive well done for their Eco achievement!"
