Bourne Westfield celebrated a fabulous Harvest Festival last Thursday with the help of Marcelle Cowley from Bourne Foodbank. Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 learnt that not everyone in our local community is as fortunate as others and how Bourne Foodbank supports many families and individuals in times of need.
Donations for this very worthy cause were plentiful, showing the generosity of all the families. The children stared in amazement at the huge display laid out at the front of the hall. Site staff from the school delivered all the produce to Bourne Foodbank on Tuesday afternoon where Marcelle explained exactly how it operates.
Headteacher, Kate Atkinson, commented, “We are extremely grateful to all of our families for their generosity in supporting Bourne Foodbank. Our community is at the heart of all we do at Westfield and it is important for children to understand that some families do need a little bit of extra support.”
