Next year will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth in Bourne of Charles Frederick Worth, the father of haute couture. There will be a series of workshops and exhibitions to mark this milestone in our school and in the wider Bourne community and lots of opportunities nearer the time for children to learn about high fashion and be inspired by the art of clothes design.
As part of the preparation for this, the children of Westfield as well as others in the wider community have been invited to design a logo to be used in the literature and marketing for this exciting schedule of events. We were so lucky today to receive a visit from artist Lucie Lawson and local historian Jenni Ashwood to speak to the children in Key Stage 2 and launch the competition. The children were fascinated to learn about Charles Worth and high fashion and inspired by some of the stunning creations they were shown.
