It was lovely to see red, white and blue across the school at Bourne Westfield for the King’s Coronation. A range of activities ensured the day was celebrated in full: children came to school dressed as Kings, Queens or in red, white and blue, sporting crowns that they had designed and made at home; the school council helped to plant a Queen Elizabeth rose bush to commemorate the day; children visited a local nursing home where they shared Coronation gifts; parents contributed to the BBC Children in Need’s ‘Royally Big Portrait’ which were uploaded via the official link. The day ended with a parade of crowns, all fabulous creations, on the playground which was truly a sight to behold.
Headteacher, Miss Atkinson, commented, “It was lovely to be able to mark the Coronation at school. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and I think it will be one that remains in their memory for many years to come. I would especially like to thank the Friends of Westfield who purchased beautiful leather bookmarks for all staff and children – such a lovely gesture.”
