As part of their work on History of Bourne, the children in Year 2 at Bourne Westfield were very excited to be collected from school by a double decker Delaine bus. The children travelled through Bourne looking at the historical town and numerous historical buildings. At the depot, the children were greeted by Anthony Delaine who shared the history of Delaine and its fleet, showing old photographs and artefacts. The children were amazed by the museum of old buses, memorabilia, timelines, photos and artefacts. The children were able to make a comparison of the fleet over the last century and appreciated the history behind Delaine.
Year 2 teacher, Christina Chatham, commented, “The highlight of the visit for the children was most definitely getting back on the buses and going through the bus wash! The children and our Year 2 team are immensely grateful to Mr Delaine and his team for giving up their time and opening their doors to the children of Bourne Westfield.”
