Lighting Up the Room

Published: 20th February 2024

Last term the Year 4 pupils at Bourne Westfield turned a creative hand to design and technology challenges.

During the term’s science topic on electricity, the children studied how electric circuits work and investigated different types of switches.

They were then able to apply what they had learnt to their design and technology light box project. The children painted cereal boxes, designed a tissue paper window and constructed a working circuit with a switch.

Year 4 teacher, Karen Brooke, commented, “The children all created a working LED light box with their own personalised

design on the front. Although it was hard work, the children were very proud of their finished designs and it was a fantastic project to end the term with.”
