Opal Platinum Award

We are Platinum!

After starting our Opal journey 2 years ago, we have had our final Opal Assessment and are very proud to have been awarded Platinum, the highest possible and most prestigious award.

Our Opal mentor was blown away by our children and the impact Opal is having on them. All staff have been amazing in embracing different ways to plan our play at lunchtime. There have been lots of changes along the way which have impacted the whole school, but we have all kept pushing forwards together. The lunchtime staff, our ‘play team’ have seen some changes to the structure of playtimes and have encountered lots of challenges but keep coming back for more! Parents - you have been fantastic, whether it be donating loose parts to the cause or putting up with muddy uniforms - we appreciate the continued support.

Our Friends of Westfield team have played a massive role in supplying funds for projects that could not have been achieved without their help. A big thank you to them and everyone who supports their events. And finally, who can forget the children? The children now have a great play offer and so many opportunities to extend their skills and take ownership of their play. We are seeing lots of different types of play on our playground, field, forest, sand, water, small world, stage, mud kitchen, quiet areas and they are showing signs of being more: resilient, independent, creative, active, thoughtful…. the list could go on and on. They never cease to amaze us with their ingenuity and originality - our future is in their hands! Well done, everyone, thank you for your continued support.
