Today, children across Bourne Westfield Primary Academy gathered together to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In order to fully mark the occasion, children across the school have completed a variety of fantastic artwork which has since been compiled by Miss Sawyer to form beautiful displays in Bourne Abbey Church. They even went on to design and create a range of impressive hats which included crowns and even wearable tea party hats. This afternoon, our pupils enjoyed a festive garden party, received some rather delicious corgi and crown biscuits, played games and even planted commemorative trees. The highlight of the afternoon was the whole school Macarena dance! A time capsule to mark the year has been sealed today, incorporating a range of items children felt were important here at Bourne Westfield including:
Deputy Headteacher, Jake Perrin, commented, “The time capsule has now been buried and we hope that one day in the future, the staff and children of Bourne Westfield open it up and discover what life was like in 2022 at the time of the Queen’s Jubilee. It was lovely to welcome Mayor Cllr. Anna Kelly and the previous mayor Paul Fellows to the event to support in the planting of trees and handing out of medals to our artistic hat makers. We thank them greatly for making the time to meet the children and spend time with us on this special occasion.”
