On 25th June, Year 3 pupils visited Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Peterborough. This is the place where Sikhs gather to worship. Its is called a Gurdwara and literally means the guru's door, which is open to everyone. We saw that it had a flag marked with the emblem of the Sikh coat of arms, this is known as the Nishaan Sahib. Two volunteers talked with the pupils about the history of Sikhism, the Gurus and what Sikhs do in to show commitment to their religion. The children were interested to see the Sikh scripture -Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Gurdwara very kindly supplied the pupils with a snack and a drink as part of their belief in showing kindness and sharing with everyone. It was a wonderful trip and the Year 3 teachers were very proud of the pupil's behaviour and how they shared their knowledge from our class learning.
