Year 4 - Ancient Egyptian Day

Published: 16th September 2025

Year 4 children stepped back in time last week as they immersed themselves in the wonders of Ancient Egypt during a vibrant and hands-on Egyptian Day. The classrooms buzzed with excitement as they explored the rich culture and traditions of one of history’s most fascinating civilizations.

The children took part in three activities. Children rolled up their sleeves to bake traditional Egyptian-style bread, learning about the importance of grain and food in daily life along the Nile. With creativity flowing, students sculpted their own clay Canopic jars—used by ancient Egyptians to store organs during mummification. Each jar was uniquely designed, showcasing impressive craftsmanship and historical understanding. Pupils also discovered the secrets of ancient Egyptian writing, practicing hieroglyphics with their own name.

The day was a perfect blend of learning and fun, sparking curiosity and deepening historical knowledge in an unforgettable way. Teachers and children alike agreed—it was a fantastic experience that brought history to life!
