Year 5 Visit Leicester Mandir

Published: 29th January 2024

On Tuesday 23rd January 2024, Year 5 visited the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Leicester. Pupils were filled with wonder at the incredible beauty of this Hindu temple. From the moment we arrived, pupils were amazed by the beautiful design of the building and the many sculptures of the Hindu gods and goddesses. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff from the temple provided a very informative talk and we were able to visit two very beautiful prayer rooms with intricate murtis of various gods and goddesses. Our visit helped the pupils understand many Hindu traditions and how they differ from other religions we study.

" I liked learning about the gods they worship and the stories they tell."  explained Grace.  "It was interesting that there were lots of gods and you could only see them at certain times." Added Ava.
