During our trip to Ferry Meadows, the children had to undertake two tasks. The first was pond dipping: they had to see what wonderful critters were living in one of Ferry Meadows' lakes and then identify them against a classification chart. They were all very surprised by what, and how many, were actually in there! The second task was a river study to identify the width, depth and speed of the river. They had to use dog biscuits to track the speed, which caused great excitement as the ducks kept trying to eat them!
